Das Album baut auf Stefan Grasse’s früheren Erfolgen von ‘Ripples’ und ‘Guitar Phases’ auf und verbindet den warmen, natürlichen Klang seines Instrumentes mit Echos und weiteren Effekten.

Neben atmosphärischen, flirrend farbigen Solostücken schichtet Grasse in komplexeren Kompositionen mehrere Gitarrenstimmen zu pulsierenden Klanglandschaften auf. Dabei wird er zum musikalischen Geschichtenerzähler, schildert Stimmungen der Natur oder lässt Eindrücke einer Alpendurchquerung in „Lontano e oltre i monti“ aufleben. In „Glass Games“ verneigt sich Grasse vor Phillip Glass, einem Pionier der Minimal Music. Bei der Komposition „Inner Sound“ bezieht er sich nicht nur auf eine kontemplative innere Klangvorstellung, sondern auch auf den gleichnamigen Fjord bei der Insel Skye in Schottland, wo er ein Jahr lang lebte. Die Metamorphose, der Übergang vom Meer zum Land versinnbildlicht die Veränderungen des Klanges, die Stefan Grasse an seinen Instrumenten und Kompositionen vornimmt.

„Mit ‚Inner Sound‘ wollte ich ein neues Kapitel aufschlagen und Geschichten auswählen, die mich so sehr berührten und faszinierten. „Inner Sound“ ist eine Geschichte des Übergangs, der Metamorphose, die das Leben einem abringt, aber auch die Sehnsucht, in der fragilen Lebensrealität einen Ruhepunkt zu finden. Es ist der Versuch, mich dem Leben, der Natur und der Vergänglichkeit zu stellen und vereint Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft zu meinem neuen Sound.“

The album builds on Stefan Grasse's earlier successes 'Ripples' and 'Guitar Phases' and expands the warm, natural sound of his instrument with echoes and other effects.

In addition to atmospheric, shimmering and colorful solo pieces, Grasse layers several guitar voices into pulsating soundscapes in more complex compositions. He becomes a musical storyteller, describes the moods of nature or revives impressions of crossing the Alps in 'Lontano e oltre i monti'. In 'Glass Games' Grasse pays homage to Phillip Glass, a pioneer of minimal music. In the composition 'Inner Sound' he not only refers to a contemplative inner sound idea, but also to the fjord of the same name near the Island of Skye in Scotland, where he lived for one year. The metamorphosis, the transition from sea to land, symbolizes the changes in sound that Stefan Grasse produces on his instruments and compositions.

“With 'Inner Sound' I wanted to open a new chapter and picking tools and stories that touched and fascinated me so much. 'Inner Sound' is a story of transition, of the metamorphosis that life wrests from me, but also the longing to find a point of calmness in the fragile reality of life. It is an attempt to confront life, nature and transience and combines past, present and future to create my new sound.”
